Visiting Assistant Professor - Psychology

Roanoke College seeks applicants for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor (area open) in the Department of Psychology to begin in August of 2021. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension. A doctorate by the start date is preferred, but ABD applicants are also encouraged to apply.

The Psychology Department is a friendly community that welcomes diverse people and voices, and seeks to hire an individual who will be able to contribute to the department’s goal of offering a diverse array of courses to students. The position will consist of teaching undergraduate courses (3/4 load) and engaging in service and/or research that matches the interests of the applicant. Applicants should be willing to teach introductory psychology, a course in our general education curriculum, and potentially broaden the curriculum by offering additional courses within their area of expertise. See current courses offered here. Pedagogical development is highly supported at both the department and college level. Service activities are varied across campus, with opportunities for individual expression and engagement. The department and college offer a supportive environment for those that wish to continue their research agenda, including working with undergraduate students.
