VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, GENERAL & ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Applications are invited for a visiting faculty appointment starting August 2022. The position is an initial one-year appointment with the possibility of two additional one-year re-appointments, conditional on performance and the needs of the College. This is a full-time position with benefits. A Ph. D. in any field of chemistry or biochemistry with teaching competency in organic chemistry is required. (ABD candidates will also be considered.) Teaching duties will include a mix of lectures and labs in general chemistry (or non-majors chemistry) and organic chemistry. Opportunities in biochemistry lab may be possible, depending on the candidate’s expertise. The teaching load at Roanoke is a total of seven sections across two semesters. (Lecture sections and lab sections are counted equally.) The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellent teaching and liberal learning. Research with undergraduates is possible but not required. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A separate contract to teach organic chemistry during the summer session (July 2022 and/or July 2023) may also be available.
